Horse-mediated coaching

In this very unique form of coaching the way we work with the horses catalyses the personal development making it a truly long lasting and effective learning experience.

Equine Mediated Coaching is an innovative methodology based on horse mediated executive training and horse therapy but always tailored to the needs of the actual individual coachee or team.

This methodology is largely an original development of our coach Gábor Suhai rooted in his studies of horse mediated training, horse therapy and various schools of psychotherapy, finetuned and proven during numerous executive coaching processes.

Participating in a horse mediated coaching process does not require any previous horse riding experience – the horse in this case does not play its ’traditional role’ but rather a mediator of the experience and a partner in communication. We use the mental aspects of the horse and rider’s relationship as a metaphor for the relationship between leaders and their organisations, reports or colleagues.

The actual learning process is built around three phases:

  1. focussing
  2. horse mediated experience based learning
  3. and discussion, self-reflection of the experience.

We pay special attention to find and fight those hidden barriers and difficulties that are in the way of the manager’s personal development in leadership.

In the horse mediated coaching process we use the different forms of co-operation and human-horse communication to support the self-reflective learning and personal leadership skills development.
